The Blessing of Staying At Home And Baking Cookies

One of the greatest gifts that staying at home and homeschooling my children gave me is having the time to
just be with them relax, and spoil them and my husband by baking cookies.

My Mom wasn't around that much when I was little, and though I have some good memories with her taking me out for treats, the warmest memories I have from my childhood are those of my Grandmother baking her famous in our family apple or plum crumble cake.

I am very happy that I am able to create similar memories for my children. It is our family tradition that on my husband's day off  I bake either cookies, or muffins and we all have it for breakfast. It is a great chance for our family to bond and have fun together.

That doesn't mean that I am not busy. Homeschooling full time, house keeping, extra curricular activities and other responsibilities take a lot of my time, so I don't really have any more time than women who work outside of home do, but I  do have a greater amount of flexibility because of working at home, and I use it as much as I can in this season of my life to enjoy those special moments.

So, do not let anyone tell you that staying home and baking cookies is somehow something of lesser value than having a career. Career can be had at any stage of your life, but your children are young for just a short period of time, so do everything you can to make the most out of it. Surprise them by baking some cookies!
